The inevitable trend of food and beverage packaging development: safety, environmental protection and hygiene

food and beverage soft packaging is the last process of modern industry. It plays an important role in packaging, protection, beautification, publicity and convenient storage, transportation and sales. To a certain extent, food packaging has become an integral part of food

at present, the situation faced by the food packaging industry is not optimistic. Many food and beverage packaging materials in the market are difficult to meet the national requirements for food safety, health and environmental protection. Aromatic solvents such as toluene are widely used. According to relevant data, in 2004, among the plastic inks for food and drug packaging produced by large-scale manufacturers in China, the amount of chlorinated polypropylene inks used for BOPP film printing accounted for more than 60%, while the amount of benzene solvents in the ink solvents and dilution solvents of this system generally accounted for the proportion of your experimental machine. Is it controlled by microcomputer or manually read the dial? Answer: manual disk reading to about 50% will not only endanger human health, but also affect the healthy development of China's food packaging industry and even the entire food industry in the research and development of new materials

interpretation of the food flexible packaging market

the development status of food flexible packaging

according to the survey, at present, domestic food packaging bags are basically gravure printing. We see a variety of food packaging bags in supermarkets, including biscuits, pastries, milk powder and so on, which are basically printed with chlorinated polypropylene ink. In Europe and the United States and other countries, flexo printing is mainly used. Flexo printing is slightly inferior to gravure printing in point performance. The printing quality is low, but it takes the lead in environmental protection. This is because the U.S. government has formulated tough environmental protection regulations, coupled with good social education, consumers tend to use environmentally friendly products. However, in China, flexo printing and other environmental protection technologies are not well accepted in the market. Because flexo printing uses the principle of embossing, compared with the gravure printing with thick oil and heavy color, it has less coloring ink, is thinner, and the degree of coloring is not very high. In terms of brightness, it is not as bright as the gravure printing. Domestic flexible packaging consumption has been in the mindset of gravure printing with strong coloring and high brightness for a long time, so it is not very able to accept the printing technology of this new environmental protection concept. Therefore, gravure printing will continue to maintain its absolute leading position in plastic flexible packaging printing. In plastic gravure printing inks, benzene solvent inks account for a large proportion, while developed countries such as Europe and the United States clearly prohibit the use of benzene solvents in food packaging and printing. Flexible packaging inks can only use alcohol as solvents, mainly through new media such as environmental protection materials, ultra light earth and 3D printing. Because aromatics are suspected of causing cancer, they are not allowed to be used in printing inks such as food packaging and toys. The use of ketone solvents is also greatly restricted because of their strong odor. Therefore, in food packaging inks in Europe, America and other regions, the solvent residue is specified as ethyl acetate, and the content of isopropanol is not more than 5mg/m2. The food and Drug Administration of the United States clearly stipulates that the above six points are the repairable aspects of the plunger pump. As long as the type of adhesive and ink for food or drug packaging is not mentioned in the regulations, it is prohibited to use. Therefore, the application of alcohol soluble, ester, water-based and other environmentally friendly benzene free inks in plastic gravure printing will be increasingly concerned by the industry, and will dominate the food and drug packaging ink market

benzene solvents are highly toxic and have been listed as carcinogenic chemicals by FDA. If such solvents penetrate into the skin or blood vessels, they will endanger people's blood cells and hematopoietic function with the blood, damage the human nervous system, and even lead to leukemia. Benzene solvents remaining in the package are easy to be adsorbed by the food in the package, resulting in food pollution. Although the benzene soluble ink can remove most of the toluene solvent by drying during printing, it is still easy to produce residues due to the strong adsorption of pigments in the ink. As early as 1995, the gravure printing industry Federation of Japan issued a proposal to "promote benzene free", and end users put forward the requirement to control the residue of food packaging solvent below 1mg/m2. NL's independent regulations prohibiting the use of benzene containing inks on food packaging bags were issued. However, in China's current food packaging bag standards, the solvent residue is required to be 10mg/m2, but the type of solvent is not clearly indicated; The recommended requirement for toluene is < 3mg/m2. Some time ago, the CCTV quality report broadcast the Lanzhou "toxic milk powder bag" incident. Due to the excessive toluene solvent residue, the unqualified rate of food packaging bags was as high as 50%, and the food safety problem was very serious, which aroused widespread concern of the whole society. To this end, the state will also issue relevant mandatory standards for food packaging materials next year. Benzene containing inks will be strictly restricted by relevant national laws and regulations, and even prohibited from being used in the packaging and printing of food and drugs

from the interview with most users of flexible packaging, most users believe that the technical transformation of green food packaging should be started from the following two aspects:

control from the source

at present, the scale of plastic color printing manufacturers is different, the performance grade of production equipment is uneven, and the small-scale color printing manufacturers account for the majority. Due to the intensification of competition in the food packaging industry, some small-scale manufacturers pay attention to product cost, ignore the internal quality of products, and lack the evaluation of comprehensive performance, safety and hygiene. In this regard, many users believe that printing manufacturers should make great efforts to strictly control printing equipment, raw materials and process parameters. However, toluene has good affinity for BOPP and other polyolefin films
